Main Search
Kiribu is a travel website, and we have made it as easy as possible to search for information and ideas about places you wish to visit. You can search all the content on Kiribu from the Search bar at the top of the screen, labelled area ‘C’ in the image on the right.
To use the search feature, just enter terms relevant to what you are looking for. Here follow some examples.
- To search for a mountain bike holiday in Corsica, enter: ‘mountain bike corsica’
- To search for a room in Tokyo, enter: ‘accommodation tokyo’ or ‘hotel tokyo’
- To find a user just enter their name, e.g.: ‘donald duck’
- To find anything in a particular location, you could enter: ‘brazil’ or ‘cape town’
Clicking ‘Search’ takes you to the results page. Here you can refine your results if needed.
Scan through the results, they are organised by type; Articles, Photos, Groups, Businesses and Members, Regions and Tags. You can click the link ‘More results …’ to see more results of each type.
To refine your results, click ‘Advanced Search Options’, as shown in the image above. This will bring up a dialogue as shown. You can refine your results as follows.
- Sorting the order – you can order by ‘Recently modified’ or by the ‘Star Rating’. All articles, albums, photos and business members are rated, so you can easily find the most popular
- By category – all articles and photo albums can be categorised. Authors will select categories relevant to their article or photo album. You will only get results from a selected category
- By location – all articles and photo albums are tagged with a location by the author. This way you can eliminate results from locations that don’t interest you by selecting one or more locations under ‘Filter by selected region’
- By section – under ‘Display only:’ you can select to view only results from each section. For example, you could be looking for a friend, so you could select ‘Members’ only.
Click ‘Search again’ to list the refined results.
Search Members
You can search through all the members on Kiribu using the search box under Following in the sidebar. Just enter a search term and click ‘Search’. The system will search all the member profiles and find all matches for the search term. For example you could search by name, e.g. ‘John Smith’, or you could search by location and the result would list all members there.
Search Groups
To only search within Groups, enter your search query in the search box under Groups in the sidebar. Click ‘Search’ to find the results. The results will show all groups containing your search query. For example a search for bicycle will list all groups containing the word bicycle.
